The summer show season is here and one of the big events coming up is the Carlisle GM Nationals and Corvettes for Chip car show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA. Over 1,000 show cars and trucks are expected during the two-day event happening June 24-25th. The event showcases all General Motors vehicles and all GM vehicles are welcome. Celebrate the first days of Summer by bringing your classic or modern GM ride to Carlisle for the GM Nationals!
The Carlisle GM Nationals is one of the most diverse automotive shows as it includes anything and everything under the GM nameplates: Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Pontiac, GMC, and more!
One of the highlights returning is the “show within a show” called Corvettes for Chip. Join fellow Corvette owners for this charity fundraiser supporting the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation which offers raffles, 50/50 drawings, baked goods, and full access to the Carlisle GM Nationals for you and your guest. Participants at the Corvettes for Chip car show will have an opportunity for your Corvette to be judged and you’ll receive a special Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation (CMAF) pin.
Special Vehicle Displays
The 2022 Carlisle GM Nationals will have a number of special vehicle displays so make sure you check out the GM Nationals Event Guide for the full map and schedule.
This year, it’s the 40th Anniversary of the 3rd Generation Camaros and Firebirds. These classic 3rd gen muscle cars will be on display in Building T as well as in an adjacent tent. The display features some of the finest and lowest mileage 1982-1992 Chevy Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds from around the country, including the last Camaro to ever roll out of Norwood Assembly. You’ll see a number of 3rd gen-based race cars including Players Camaros and some Firehawks, GM’s 1991 SEMA show car with the only GM-commissioned LT5 Dual Overhead Cam ZR-1 engine that is not a Corvette, YouTuber Stan Kennedy a.k.a. Fireball Mullet will have his modified IROC-Z, and special guest Kyle Tucker of Detroit Speed will also be in the house. The Carlisle GM Nationals is your one chance to see some of the rarest-optioned Camaros and Firebirds in the world!
For 2022, Carlisle is also honoring 40 years of the popular compact pick-up trucks that include the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15. You can find this display in a tent on Row ID in the National Parts Depot Showfield.
Celebrating 60 Years at the GM Nationals are the Chevy Nova and Chevy II models. You’ll find these on display at the tent on Row R. The Nova Nationals at Carlisle include Nova seminars, a featured display, and a great snowfield featuring your Novas and Chevy IIs.
The Solid Lifter Showroom is also making its return to Carlisle and it’s a great opportunity to see these ultra-rare cars that made horsepower history more than 50 years ago. Hosted by the Super Car Workshop, you’ll be able to talk with those responsible for restoring these fantastic Yenkos, COPOs, and other street performance machines.
Things to Do and See
One of the biggest draws for any event at Carlisle is the huge automotive swap meet and flea market. If you have a GM vehicle that you are restoring or if you are on the hunt for that one correct part to complete your build, the swap meet at the Carlisle GM Nationals is where you’ll likely find it. In addition to parts, you’ll also find just about anything you need for your shop, garage, and man cave with vendors offering detailing supplies, tools, collectibles, and all kinds of automotive memorabilia.
As this is the Carlisle GM Nationals, you’ll find a huge variety of GM/Chevrolet cars and trucks for sale in the GM National’s Car Corral. Over 150 vehicles are expected and you can shop, compare, and deal directly with the owner. Carlisle Events has a notary service and bank on the premises to assist buyers and sellers. If you have a classic or modern GM vehicle for sale, call Carlisle Events at 717-243-7855 to book your spot.
The Carlisle GM Nationals isn’t just for showing cars and trucks, you’ll get to see them roll, rev, and turn heads! Watch as your favorite GM vehicles compete in a rolling exhaust contest and on the autocross for the Real Street Shootout with UMI Performance and there are even open autocross runs and track ride-alongs available. Atturo Tires is sponsoring a rolling burnout and donut contest and Bruce Larson will also be lighting up the crowds with this year’s Nitrofest as he shares his amazing USA-1 funny car.
The Carlisle GM Nationals are held on Friday and Saturday, June 24-25, 2022 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Interested in attending? See the registration options or click here to purchase tickets. You can also review a digital version of the event guide so that you can plan out your day before you go.
