Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.
This week’s Delivery Dispatch is pretty cool as Mike Furman travels to the NCM this week for the BGFD Corvette Raffle Dinner. He also had the opportunity to watch his Father/Son customers pick up their sequential-VIN C8 Stingrays on Corvette Boulevard. Mike has assembled a nice collection of throwbacks and vintage photos this week, so make sure you keep on scrolling or swiping until the end. Mike reads your comments, so let us know your favorites in the comment section below!
You can see all Mike’s posts through the week on his CorvetteFurman Facebook Page.
~The Bowling Green Fire Dept will have their 8th annual Fireman’s Ball this evening at The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. I flew in for the event and truly support the cause. Ron Renner called me this past Spring after reaching out to at least 100 other dealerships that said No, I said Yes. I got them a new Corvette for their big raffle and all 911 tickets sold out a month ago so there will be a lucky Winner announced this evening of vin #911. The evening proceeds go to the community of Bowling Green facilitated by the BG Fire Department. It doesn’t get any better when you work as a team for the betterment of those less fortunate. I received some thank you gifts on my Chiefs tour today including a Gold engraved axe that is being completed for shipment in a few weeks to my Maryland home. Incredible gesture as I asked for nothing in return but will cherish their friendships forever. Next month I will order next years Raffle Corvette.
~I received a private tour of the Bowling Green Fire House today by Chief Justin Brooks and some of his men that were working their 24 hour shift. I joined in on their lunch and even slid down a fire pole from the 30’s! Incredible day and can’t wait until this evening for the Corvette Raffle dinner at the Corvette Museum, dinner for 425!!
~The only Corvette model produced in honor of the Dealer, 50 Malcolm Konner Commemorative editions were produced in 1986…you can look it up in the Corvette Black Book. The Konner family graciously donated 1 of the 50 to the National Corvette Museum back in 1994 for the Grand Opening. Someday I’d like to buy one of these special C4’s! I enjoy seeing the MK 1986 Corvette each time I visit the KY Museum!
~The Callaway Sledgehammer along with many other Callaway Corvettes are on special display at the National Corvette Museum. The Sledgehammer was sold out of Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in Paramus, NJ and the Konner family gifted me much of the original paperwork for that incredible Corvette for my Corvette Library. If you don’t know the Sledgehammer history then it would behoove you to use Google or visit the Corvette Museum!
~Another cool display at the National Corvette Museum that I viewed yesterday.
~Really cool color chip display at the Corvette museum yesterday.
Ruth Glennie was one of the “Damsels of Design” hired by Harley Earl in the early 1950s at General Motors. One of the projects she worked on was the 1958 “Fancy Free” Corvette.
~Spoiler alert on the 2023 Corvette Z06…check out the up close video I just took at the Corvette Museum.
~Don L. JR of Virginia Beach, VA and his son Don L. III of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina took father son museum delivery of two Corvettes yesterday and GM had the movie cameras rolling and I took a 6am flight from Maryland on my day off to meet them at the museum in Bowling Green, KY for the special day. GM chose these two deliveries for their you tube energy series on the R8C delivery experience at the Museum. Don’s family joined in and I spent the day with them from 9am until they left at 2:30. Don Jr 21 years ago did a museum delivery for his C5! Fun was had by all and they truly appreciated the sequential vins that I was able to secure for their two Corvettes. Thanks GM.
~Tom G. of Germantown, Maryland factory ordered his C7 from me and today he took delivery of his C8! He was like a kid on Christmas morning as seen in the video in the comments section. Tom ordered a Torch Red 2023 Corvette coupe and had our Criswell service department install the body color high wing spoiler. The interior is Natural and Black two tone and the whole Corvette came out perfect.
~Jim and Jana A. of Clinton TWP, Michigan found a Corvette I had on the internet in stock 4 years ago while they were traveling up and down the East Coast. I gave them a sight unseen trade in value and we made the deal. They arrived the night before and it was sunny and beautiful. The next day they came in for delivery and within about 1 hour it turned into the mess you see in these pictures. Most likely the worst weather I ever delivered a Corvette in and today marks the 4 year anniversary! They drove from Maryland to Michigan which is approx 600 miles and got home safe and sound. They ended up taking the corvette owners school in Nevada with me and have remained good friends ever since. Good thing they put down an early deposit for a C8. They chose Museum delivery this time.
~Tim T. of Setaucket, New York left his Long Island home at 3am to meet me at Criswell Chevrolet of Gaithersburg, Maryland at 7:45am. He knows the drill as he has purchased 70 plus vehicles from me since 2009 with approx 1 dozen of them being Corvettes including 2 new 2010 ZR1’s within two months and 2 new 2019 ZR1’s within two months! He owns all 4 still among his 36 car collection and he drives/races them all! Today he traded in his 2018 High Country Silverado for a 2023 Silverado LTZ with the 6.2 engine. His whole family joined me at Spring Mountain a few years ago as he and his daughter took the ZR1 Corvette school that was available.
~This weeks Corvette barn find and throwback picture post with a nod to my departed friend and customer Frank Class.
