Circumstances change, and that’s the reason the owner of this 1960 Corvette convertible has put it on the market on eBay.
He says a change in health is the reason for the eBay auction, which has attracted lots of attention with 48 bids already climbing well past the reserve to a high of $48,205 – with four days left!
Based on the photos, a lot of the heavy lifting on this Corvette has already been done. The seller believes it to be a “very presentable” driver, and we’d be inclined to agree. The red paint – with complementing white coves – looks shiny, the body shows no damage, and the black interior likewise appears to be in nice condition.
The new owner will have several options, just keeping the car as is and enjoying it on the open road or investing some more bucks to take it to a higher level.
Unfortunately, the original engine is not in place, so the car won’t win any originality contests. In its place is a 327/300 horsepower V8 connected to a four-speed manual transmission. On the bright side, that 327 actually represents a performance upgrade over the various 283 versions that were available in 1960.
While the motor may not be the one that left the St. Louis factory more than 60 years ago, the original Corvette radio is in place, and the gauges are said to be in working order. Also included are both tops, with a matching red hardtop and a ragtop of an unknown color.
Sales of the Corvette continued their rise since 1956, with a record for the time of 10,261 convertibles produced. Will you be the one that resumes stewardship of this historically significant Corvette?
